I updated my Apple Watch yesterday. Ever since then I’m not receiving notifications on my watch. I’ve watched several videos and checked everything out and everything is set correctly, even powered both down but still not getting notifications.

First make sure that your expectations are correct
Notifications (Sounds, Haptics and Banners)
Apart from actual phone calls which ring on both by default, the Sounds and haptic notifications and banners for messages etc follow these rules…
~ If the phone is in use (open) then you get tangible notifications on the phone only. Messages and Mail still appear silently on the Watch in the relevant app without banner..
~ If the phone is locked you get tangible notifications on the Watch only. If you have notifications set for iPhone Lock Screen or Notification center they still go to the phone, but silently without banner.
~ If you go into each notification type and use Custom and disallow notifications the alerts and banners go to the phone always and not to the Watch

Same here. 1 day before that, i left my watch to charge during the night and when i woke up the watch was dead. Tried to turn it on and it didnt start. I left it on charge again and turned on after a while but it didnt count the kcal anymore, so i made a factory reset. After reset and update to latest version, no notifications anymore. This is getting frustrating..
I ended up calling Apple Support, who suggested a hard reset. I ended up going to my Apple Watch app, hitting passcode and turning off wrist detect and that worked. Not sure if that will help you or not. I’d suggest calling support if not. Best of luck.

Good that you have found a workaround for wrist detection not working, either because of a hardware fault or skin variations like tattoos.
