Can't create child account - tried restarting and diferent internet connections.

I'm having trouble creating a child account on my iphone.

So I type my childs name and date of birth then when I click on "Verify that you are an adult"

I go to a page where I need a paypal verification code.

I'm not getting codes because I've tried to many times to get one.

So when I click on "Can't use this payment method"

I get sent to a blank page (all white) that says "Cannot Connect" and a retry button.

The retry button doesn't do anything.

I have restarted the device multiple times.

I have disconnected the wifi and used cellular.

I have also used wifi from work instead of at home.

No changes.

I can't create a childs account :(

Please help...

Wondering what kind of account you are trying to set up for your child:

Eg: For an Apple ID to use with Family sharing:

How to: Create an Apple ID for your child - Apple Support

Verification: (Says a credit card.)

On your iPhone, you can also use a driver's license or state ID added to Wallet where available.

Cards in Wallet are for use with Apple Pay. If there are no on-screen instructions about where to add the credit card, you might want to try adding the credit card as a payment method in your Apple ID account:

About iOS 16 Updates - Apple Support says iOS 16.3.1 is the latest update ...if adding credit card to Apple ID doesn't do the trick, it may help to update the iOS.

Seems you need to have a credit card in your Apple ID account, and add the security code as verification on that first screen.

Payment methods that you can use with your Apple ID – Apple Support

says for Australia

1 Apple Pay : requires two-factor authentication

2 PayPal : You might be asked to verify your account with the payment method provider.

Yet "Most credit and debit cards" are acceptable.

Hi, thank you for getting back to me again.

i have updated to ios 16.3.1 but it didn't make any difference :(

Attached are 2 screenshots,

the first screenshot is when I click on "verify you are an adult" and it shows the request to get a PayPal code (but it doesn't work because i tried to many times last night),

the second one is the screen I get after clicking on "can't use this payment method?" Taping "retry" doesn't do anything.

I've restarted my iphone since the update and tried this on cellular and wifi :(

Im not sure what else to do....

I am trying to set up 2 accounts for both children for family sharing.

I have 2 ipads for them. I am tryin g to create these accounts using my iphone xr.

I have added a credit card to apple wallet - it has made no difference in being able to create a child account.

I do not have the option of adding a drivers license, Im in Australia if that helps and running ios 16.2

If you are using Family Sharing, PayPal might not be accepted as a payment method, and you will have to choose or add another payment method.
