Samsung SSD T5 not connecting?

I have a Samsung Portable SSD T5 2TB and am having issues trying to connect it to my 2021 Macbook Pro, OS up to date with Ventura 13.1. Once I plug into my computer the software states along with a hand illustration of plugging a cable into the SSD "No Samsung Portable SSD is connected." Although, my Mac recognizes the drive and the blue light is on, on the SSD. I've tried connecting with both the usb-c directly into my computer and the usb-a using an anker adapter and it still does not recognize it. I have seen a previous thread regarding the T5 but it was from 2017 and seemed a little confusing to me and I'm not familiar with terminal/gate keeper settings; hoping there may me an easier fix. HELP!!!

are you using any of samsung's preloaded software on the drive (or installed such software yourself) that supposedly makes the drive "Mac ready"? if yes, that could be the cause of your issue. when you use software from just about any manufacturer for their storage device you run the risk of that same software not being compatible with macOS updates / upgrades. it can cause the software to stop working. at best this will cause you a headache. at worst it can render your data inaccessible. it is always best to use disk utility to erase and format a drive before use to remove any preloaded software.

if you are using such software, i think your options are somewhat limited.

you may want to contact Samsung and see if there is an update for their software.

alternatively, if you have a backup you can revert your macOS to the version of macOS that the drive was working on and transfer your data to another storage device and then erase and format the Samsung device before putting it back into service.

Has this T5 SSD ever worked with this particular laptop? Not all external devices are compatible with an Apple Silicon Mac. In fact some T5 SSDs are known to be incompatible (or at least they were in 2020 when the M1 Macs were first released). Some T5 SSDs will work fine, while others will not work....all due to which USB controller chip the drive uses...there are at least two different versions even though the SSDs look identical and have the same model number.

Make sure to disconnect all other external devices in case one of them is causing a problem. One such device which is known to interfere with external drives are Wacom tablets....unless Wacom fixed this you need to mount your external drives before connecting the Wacom tablet, otherwise odd issues will occur.

Are you using the built-in hardware encryption feature of the T5 SSD? If not, then there is no reason to use the Samsung proprietary software to manage the T5 SSD. In fact it is best if you allow macOS to manage the external drives by using a file system macOS supports. If you need to share the drive with a Windows system then use Disk Utility to erase the drive as GUID partition and exFAT (erasing the drive will destroy all data on the drive).

Edit: Also I believe macOS Ventura is now up to 13.2.1 so you are a few updates behind on patches.
