How can I convert an SVG into a keynote shape?

I want to make icons in Keynote that can change fill color. I have my icons in PDF, PNG, and SVG but from what I have read they need to be a keynote shape or .key in order to change the fill color. It looks like svg2key is an outdated converter. Does anyone know how to do this?

I could really use some guidance on this, thank you so much!

Apple Shapes are in their own vector format and external image raster or vector content cannot be converted by, or simply added to Keynote as an Apple Shape. You can only create a new Shape style by exploding existing Keynote shapes and recombining/grouping them into a new shape.

You can send feedback directly to the Keynote product team from the Keynote application menu.
