Connecting my iPad Pro (12.9) to iPhone 12 with Keynote Remote

I have always connected by iPhone 12 Keynote Remote to my old iPad air. But, I got an iPad Pro and it doesn't connect. I've check out all of the resources, checked the updates, restarted, updated, etc. and still it sees the old iPad and NOT the new one.

Every resource just implies that it sees one another, and I'm not seeing it.

In the old iPad, there was a settings location for remote...not on the new one. Just an icon that appears to be searching but nothing happens and it times out.

Please help!

Robert

Here' more info...I don't get a "set up remotes" in either my iPad pro or iPhone:

  1. In the presentation manager, tap , then tap Continue.
  2. The device displays the Set Up Remote screen. (This does not happen!)
  3. Note: Tap OK if you’re asked to allow Keynote to find and connect to devices on your local network.
  4. Open a presentation on iPad, tap , tap Allow Remote Control, then turn on Enable Remotes.
