iCal invites reappearing

When I get an iCal invite via email, it will not go away when I respond. I can accept the invite and it will appear as an event in my iCal. A few minutes later, the event disappears, I get a new notification, and the invite has reappeared. This repeats indefinitely. Why is this happening, and how can I get it to stop?

Good afternoon kmk2991,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

It sounds like you are having an issue with iCal invites and we'd like to help!

Can we ask a few questions about the experience you are having?

  • Are these invites coming from one specific contact or company?

  • Which email account are receiving these invites? (We don't need the email address, just tell us what is after the @ symbol).

  • Is the issue happening in more than one email account?

  • Do you have iCloud enabled for Calendar?

  • Do you use Microsoft Outlook or Exchange?

Your responses to these questions will help us determine the best path to find a resolution for you.

Your profile shows you are running macOS 12.5 on your MacBook Pro

Please make sure you have a Time Machine backup of your Mac before beginning any troubleshooting, and that you have updated to the most recent version of the operating system.

Hello kmk2991,

We noticed you’d viewed another thread with the same issue. In that one, restarting in safe mode and testing in a new user account was recommended. Were you able to perform those steps?

If not, here’s the links again:

Add a user or group on Mac - Apple Support

With safe mode we want you to be aware that restarting in safe mode may take a bit longer than usual since it prevents some software from loading and does a check of your startup disk. You may also see some graphic anomalies on your screen as well. Once you’re done testing, restart normally to exit. If the issue didn’t occur while in safe mode, see if it happens after a normal restart.

With a new user account, you’ll need to log out of your own account, then into the new account. Set up the Calendar as you have it set up in your own account and test.

Please let us know the results when you're able.

All the best.
