Unwanted screenshots on iPad 11 with 16.3.1 software.

Every time I swipe from lower left corner to delete previous pages my iPad 11 Gen 2 iPad just takes a screen shot.

This is getting really annoying and tedious that I then have to delete the camera screenshot !

Dont know why this has recently started happening!?

Have tried the reset option from Apple but that didn’t help. Need help from someone please.

For the benefit of all, as you have evidentially discovered, by far the easiest method to trigger and save a screenshot is to set-up and use the corner-swipe gesture. This feature, that can be triggered with either a finger or Pencil gestures, can enabled or disabled from iPad settings…

  • Open the Settings app on your iPad
  • Go to the General menu and then choose the Gestures option
  • Make sure “Allow Finger to Swipe From Corner” is enabled
  • Choose the action you want (Screenshot) when swiping from either (or both) the left and right corners - or disable by selecting OFF

With the corner swipe enabled, you can easily capture a screenshot with just your finger (or Apple Pencil). Just swipe diagonally from the lower-left or lower-right corner of the screen towards the centre; this will immediately trigger the screenshot.

since i updated the software in feb 2023, my ipad takes unwanted screenshots when i'm working in other applications, sometimes 4 or 5 a session. annoying. and yes, it seems to be activated by taps or swipes on the lower left part of the screen or keyboard pad.

i assumed it was supposed to be an upgrade -- screenshots can now be taken with one hand-- but it's a downgrade.

Hi there Brianfromromford,

In order to take a screenshot on your iPad model, the top button and one of the volume buttons must be pressed at the same time. There are a variety of scenarios where this may be inadvertently occurring, even if you're not unintentionally pressing the buttons. For example, if you have a case on your iPad, it is possible pressure on the case may be causing the buttons to be pressed. More information on this can be found here: Take a screenshot on your iPad - Apple Support.

If the issue occurs without a case, please don't hesitate to respond back.
