How to add Apple Card to iPhone 5s?

I've got an iPhone 5s running 12.5.5. I'm trying to add my Apple Card to it, but can't seem to figure it out. When I launch the Wallet app, I do see various passes from the past, but there is no + button to add new cards. Is there a way to do it?
