Emails disappear without sending using default app

This has been a long time issue with my iphone. I am using the lastest IOS. I am using the default email app. I have three different accounts and all of them randomly do not send email after creating an email and send. I does go through the motions, push send, the swoosh sound is made and screen and email disappear like it was a success. It does not matter the type of the email service I use. A minute later, I check the outbox of the account that sends it. The email is not there, and other party does not get the email I sent. The email simply vanished. I believe this is a long time bug that has existed for years. No fix.

Things I have tried.

Ease phone and reinstall ios

Ease email accounts and reinstall

Ease app and resintall

reset all email accounts ( i have three)

Changed Iphones.

So far, I've turned off delay email send to never and it seems to work okay. Only because now I immediate go to sent items to see if it is there.

I simply can not trust the app anymore.

Anyone else having this issue? What have you done to avoid this?

Outbox and sent items are empty. The fact that I create an email it never goes to the outbox in addition it never makes it to the sent items. Probably because it is never sent. I believe there is a major bug in the software and it has existed for years according to previous publishings in the community forum. But it has never been addressed. I know I am not the only person experiencing this is issues. Please search the forum for others.

Both my wife and are having exactly the same problem on our iPads; create an email, click Send, hear the swoosh sound, email disappears from our iPads and is not received by the intended recipient. This does not happen to all emails and may not happen for days at a time but in a recent example, my wife created / sent four emails in the spaces of 10 / 15 minutes - three disappeared but one was successfully delivered. The missing emails are not in any folder. It is not receiver dependent as we’ve successfully sent emails to the same person/ address before and after the disappeared emails.

We get the feeling that the “send process” for the disappearing emails takes a little longer than we would expect but do not have firm evidence.

Hello, I believe there is a major bug in the software. One thing. Have tried is to turn off send delay in the mail settings. it seems when mail delay is turned on, the email process seems to cancel if you leave the app or close it. So I turned it off wait for the swoosh sound to go then move to sent items to verify the email sent. It seems to work so far. But there were times with attachments , the email to a little longer to send, I would close the app after send the email never goes. Good luck and hopefully apple fixes this.

Hey there YorkieMax,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

To get started, we do want to make you aware that emails that are sent only remain in the Outbox folder temporarily until they have been sent. After the email is sent, you should be able to then find them in the Sent folder. So just too confirm, if you check the Sent folder for the emails that have went missing, are you able to see them there?

If not, we would recommend going through any step you may not have already tried from the following resource: If you can’t send email on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Before you begin
There are a few things to keep in mind and check:
- When you make an iOS or iPadOS backup in iCloud or iTunes, it backs up your mail settings, but not your email. If you delete or change your email account settings, previously downloaded email might be removed from your device.
- Make sure that your device is connected to the internet.
- Check with your email service provider to find out if there's a service outage.
- Look for the Undo Send button in your Inbox or list of mailboxes. If Undo Send is available, the message has not been sent.
- Learn what to do if you can't access your iCloud Mail, or you can't send and receive messages with your @icloud.com email address.

Check the Outbox for unsent email
If you get a message that says your email wasn’t sent, then that email goes to your Outbox. Check your Outbox and try to send the email again with these steps:
1. In Mail, go to your list of mailboxes.
2. Tap Outbox. If you don’t see an Outbox, then your email was sent.
3. Tap an email in the Outbox. Make sure that the recipient’s email address is correct.
4. Tap Send.

If still running into issues after going through the steps above, then based on the information you've provided and the steps you've already tried, we'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly from this link here: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care!
