Trying to create Apple ID for my son. 13 too old???

I am trying to setup an Apple ID for my son by Creating a Child Account in the Family settings of Ventura. I need to specify the date of birth - he is 13 - and as a consequence I can't enter that date of birth. What does that mean? Can't he have a child account? I want to have that account as a child account under my control. And I think it should be up to me if my son get's a child account or a regular adults account. So, what shall I do?

So you say I have the same possibilities to control that account?

Yes. Same exact possibilities.

And is it possible to get an Apple ID when not having an own mobile phone and credit card?

Yes. You don't need a phone or a credit card to have an Apple ID. Specially if it's added to Family Sharing.

alternative seems to be to just enter another date of birth.

That's always an option. Though, do note, that the age will not be able to be changed directly by you until it ages past 13 naturally if you set it to under 13.

The age of the account is mostly irrelevant.

You can only create accounts for under 13 ear olds through family sharing.

For 13 or older you can create the account like any other account.

This does not in any any way prevent you from adding the account to family sharing, or to add restrictions to the device he is using, or to to turn on Ask To Buy. It's just the method of creation of the account.

Then invite the account to Family sharing, and accept form a device logged into it.
