I downloaded and installed a font family. The only weight that displays as active is the last one in the installation. All others are grayed out and inactive. How do I make them all active for use?

Try the following in order as needed:
1 - boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.
NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Additional note: I upgraded my OS to Ventura over the weekend. Many of the documents I created last week open with text "pinked out", meaning I need to replace missing fonts. Fonts that I had before the upgrade. Fonts that are still in my Font Book but don't display in my document font list. What gives?
Before I move forward with your suggestions, some clarification might be in order.
•First, before I submitted my question, I quit all running programs and restarted my machine. No success at fixing.
• This is a new Mac that did an automatic upgrade. That's when the font issues began (the installation of the font family today isn't the only problem that has been posed.)
• I hesitate to boot in safe mode due to your claim that it disables user-installed fonts; I have many purchased fonts on my computer that are necessary to use for documents I modify on a monthly basis. Disabling those fonts is not an option.
I need to figure this out, but cannot risk disabling user-installed fonts (although it would be great to disable all the stupid NOTO fonts)
Safe Mode only disables the fonts while in Safe Mode. Being that it's the user fonts that are the issue just reboot normally immediately after the Safe Mode boot. Then see if the fonts will activate.
What type of fonts are they, i.e. the extension?

I'll try the safe mode reboot after my workday is over. It's hard to be efficient when wrenches like this get tossed in the works.

The .otf fonts are compatible as many of the fonts that come with the system are .otf. See if you can install them while in Safe Mode.
How do activate installed fonts?
