Re: Apple Music “unauthorised content”

I have been receiving the notification that, “this content is not authorised,” for multiple songs on Apple Music despite them working perfectly prior to the renewal of my subscription a few days ago. Any assistance would be highly appreciated!

Hi there. Thank you so much for this response! I have checked each one of these bullet points but none seem to be the cause of the problem. It still hasn’t resolved. For some songs, I get the notice “Cannot open. This content is not authorised.”

understand that you are getting a message when trying to play some songs in Apple Music stating that the content is not authorized.




You can try the steps listed below to see if that helps out:

Access your music collection on all of your devices with Apple Music





  • Make sure that you're signed in with the Apple ID and password that you use with your Apple Music membership and to make purchases from the iTunes Store.

Does restarting your iPhone resolve the issue? Restart your iPhone - Apple Support If not, please continue with the steps below.


In your troubleshooting, having you had a chance to go to Settings > your name > Media & Purchases and sign out of your Apple ID and then back in. Please note, we’re not asking you to sign out of iCloud, this is only signing out and back in to the iTunes and App Stores. However, if you have any music downloaded from an Apple Music subscription, it will be removed. Once signed back in though, you can redownload it.
