Couple apps keep opining at start up even after I disabled them from the login items by going to:
System Settings -> General - > Login Items. then click the minus to remove them from the list.
now my login items is empty but, there is couple apps keep open at start up.
my Os is Ventura 13.2.1
Any advice?
That doesn't work because there are apps that don't even show up in that list, and they still open up every. single. time I start up my iMac. Half of these are apps I haven't used in months. The only time I see them is on startup (e.g. Microsoft PowerPoint). And there doesn't seem to be an option within the app to stop this happening.
The same thing was happening to me (I'm very much a non-expert). It's because I've been shutting down applications by clicking on the red button up the top rather than going over and quitting them properly. If you restart and let them all come up again on startup then go over and quit each one properly, they won't pop up again on startup.
Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and set the offending Login Items to not open at login. Then reboot normally and test again.
NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
You might have to go into the settings for those apps that launch at startup, and find their setting to STOP launching at startup.
I found this remedy using AI. It worked!
• Go to the Apple menu () > Shut Down.
• Before clicking “Shut Down,” make sure “Reopen windows when logging back in” is unchecked.
• Shut down your Mac and then start it up again to see if the apps still reopen.

One of the apps that keep launch at the start up is the messages. I’ll check if there is something in the settings helps.

several apps [5] appear at startup on my Imac even after I removed them using [-] from General> log in item. I'm using Ventura OS?

probebly youre find a little dot under thise apps in your dock. just clik on them with your right finger if you are using a mouse or with twe fingers if you using a laptop and clik quit .

There is no options when I right click on an app.
