Upgraded to Ventura and now Microsoft Office for mac will not Update and Outlook shuts down

I upgraded from a much older operating system on my 2019 desktop Mac and now Microsoft Office for Mac will not update any applications and Outlook shuts down when trying to open Junk File. I subscribed to the Office 365 and it still does not update any software. Looked into Microsoft support and this problem has been happening in the past.

Wondering if anyone was able to fix their Microsoft for Mac to update software on their Mac computer.

You also need the current (v16.69.1 or later) Microsoft 365 applications installed from the Mac App Store. Just a license update does not make any retired, incompatible applications work again. If your license and these applications still do not work, then contact Microsoft support.

You will need current releases and licensing for MIcrosoft 365 (subscription) or the single-purchase Office 2021 for Mac. Office 2019 for Mac is scheduled for retirement in Fall 2023. All other older versions of MS Office have been retired and are now not supported on macOS Ventura. Your documents are not affected by the first sentence.

I was wrong. It was not a bad email. It still is shutting down when I click on Junk Mail. I tried opening in a new window and that worked once then shut down. I can still empty the folder but I want to be able to see what is in the junk mail. Any ideas. I DID upgrade to the latest Microsoft Outlook and paid for the subscription. I want to keep Outlook and not use another app

You might look into the two free alternatives to MS Office: LibreOffice and SoftMaker FreeOffice 2018. Both can open, edit an save MS Office documents in the MS Office format or their own format.

I DID purchase the subscription of the latest version of Microsoft Office 365. That is what is not working and causing trouble

Turns out it was a bad email causing the problem with closing of the spam folder. Once I cliicked empty folder everything started working and no errors or shutting down
