Unable to Use Pioneer Drive

My Pioneer BDR-XD05 seems to be lost -- will not mount anything.

The OS sees it (as shown in About this Mac), but nothing shows up on the desktop, nor disk utility.

And, yes -- I have tried an assortment of video and music CDs.

Any ideas or work-arounds?

You're among many that are having the same problem with their Pioneer optical drive. This Google search lists the many topics in these forums regarding that:

The current Pioneer drives state Monterey and Ventura compatibility. The previous generation had some firmware updates to make them Catalina compatible, and your drive model is older, so unless Pioneer has posted firmware updates for it, it may not work with Ventura.

Pioneer already acknowledges that they are aware of recognition issues with some XD07 generation drives with Ventura, and are looking into it. As your drive is older, they may not address that issue with yours.
