What should I do when a window pops up saying "System MacOS is infected."?

Close the window and move on with your live. It's a scam trying to get you to buy useless software. No, you don't need McAfee. It falls into the "useless software" category.

Totally agree with IdrisSeabright, it's a scam, but if still worried the free Malwarebytes may take care of it...

Thanks for your response........I down loaded the Malwarebytes and it did take care of the problem. I also learned

a lot about Mac and how well protected they are. Its comforting to know there is help out there when needed; especially for us old duffers. Ann
