MacBook Pro dropping calls when handing off from iPhone

For the last few weeks my MacBook Pro M1 Max has been dropping calls transferred to it from my iPhone 13 Pro. It's inconsistent. I thought Messages might be causing it, so I made sure it was closed before attempting the transfer. It seemed to work, but today it started again. This time with Messages closed, so I don't know what the problem is.

I dial the call, transfer it to the MacBook, the interface appears for a split second, and then the call is dropped. Anyone have some suggestions?

Thanks!

I've gone through all the above. The problem is intermittent. I haven't been able to find a common cause. It started a few weeks ago. Before that, no problem. I don't know if the OS updates caused it or not.

Personally, I believe it has something to do with Facetime. The MacBook stays connected until the call connects. I hear audio for a moment, and then the call drops. Sometimes I'm left with a blank black box on my screen with FaceTime in the menu bar.

I've had several calls today. 2/3 connected fine. 1/3 dropped a second or two after the call connected. Very frustrating.

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities DdC441,

Make sure the devices remain near each other during the call, and that each is set up as follows:

• Each device is signed in with the same Apple ID.
• Each device is signed in to FaceTime with the same Apple ID.
• Each device has Wi-Fi turned on.
• Each device is connected to the same network using Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
• On your iPhone, go to Settings > Phone > Calls on Other Devices, then turn on Allow Calls on Other Devices.
• On your iPad, go to Settings > FaceTime > Calls from iPhone, then turn on Calls from iPhone.
• On your Mac, open the FaceTime app, choose FaceTime > Settings (or Preferences), then select Calls From iPhone.

If your carrier supports Wi-Fi calling on other devices, you can set up those devices to make and receive calls even when your iPhone isn't turned on or nearby. Learn about Wi-Fi calling.

Make and receive phone calls on Mac or iPad

We hope this helps!
