Scrolling to last message on iMessage is impossible it bounces up

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities.

Try to Restart your iPad before opening the Messages app again. If the issue continues, try connecting to a new Wi-Fi or cellular data connection before testing again.

If you use any other devices with iMessage, you may be able to view your messages that way as a workaround.

If the issue continues on your iPad, please contact Apple Support directly for more help.
