Why is Mail not saving drafts for the new emails and often sent emails are lost with no trace

The mail in my iPhone seems to work fine except when I create a new email, the drafts are not saved immediately. After the emails are sent and I close the app immediately, the emails disappear without a trace. The draft email issues have started about 3 months now. I was hoping this to being a glitch but it is more often repeating for most of all accounts I have set up. Removing and resetting the accounts haven't helped much in this situation.
