Universal Control randomly disconnects or pointer disappears

I love the idea of Universal Control, but it's not stable for me. M1 Pro Macbook Pro running latest OS of (non-beta) Ventura and M2 iPad Pro 11" running latest (non-beta) iOS. Disconnect happens when both devices are sitting next to each other (maybe 1 ft apart). Happens in the middle of tying on iPad. Sometimes, the mouse pointer is gone altogether (even on the Mac) and the only way to get it back is to lock the iPad screen. I should also add, the Macbook is most often closed and connected to Apple Studio Display. Anyone else have this issue?

Here's why I suggested that you did not read my post in its entirety:

The first three suggestions in the link refer to getting Universal Control set up and working the first time.

Since my post clearly states that I have used it successfully, these suggestions are an invalid/irrelevant to my scenario. The fourth suggestion, regarding keeping devices within 3 feet of each other... My post clearly states that the devices are only 1 foot apart.. Again, this suggestion is obviously invalid/irrelevant to my scenario. The fifth suggestion, of putting the devices to sleep and waking them back up... My post clearly states that this is specifically how I get Universal Control to work again... So again, a completely invalid/irrelevant suggestion. The very last suggestion (to turn off Universal Control, reboot both devices, then turn it back on) could technically be a valid suggestion - But when you read that I can easily get it to work again after locking the iPad, then this suggestion also becomes invalid/irrelevant. The link you included is simply the generic instructions from Apple of how to use Universal Control.

Being an I.T. Support person myself (for 31 years), I appreciate forums like this where people can help each other. However, anyone can do a quick Google search and find results that do not apply to the scenario at hand. That is exactly what this appears to be (and I did a pretty extensive search before I decided to post this here for help). Having read my entire post, you'd know that none of the suggested solutions actually apply to this situation.

Hmm… I would suggest that the Logitech stuff might be a culprit, since I use the same mouse and keyboard.. But, my issues with Universal Control (very similar to yours) started when I was using Apple’s own keyboard and mouse. I switched to Logitech after. I suspect this issue (for all of us) may have something to do with bluetooth interference. I have quite a few bluetooth devices on my desk. It’s either that, or that UC simply isn’t that stable (yet?). As a sort of update to my situation…. I recently bought a 2018 12.9” iPad Pro. So far, it has less issues with UC that my M2 11” iPad Pro. The exact opposite of what I would have expected.

I also want to add my scenario on that problem. My Macbook Pro is connected to an external Monitor (LG UltraFine) and the monitor is between my iPad Pro and MBP, so 1 feet distance. Besides my iPad has a damascus skin by dbrand.com but I‘ve got the second version bc it disturbed WiFi connections maybe still does?

Anyway when I take my iPad close to my Macbook it connects immediately with UC and I put my iPad again next to my monitor. However after 2 minutes it disconnects :/

Keyboard: Logitech MXKeys

Mouse: Logitech MXAnywhere 3

Hello bigbizkits,

If Universal Control is not working properly you'll want to make sure you've covered these basic steps:

• If using macOS Ventura or later, click the add button (+) in the upper-right corner of the Displays settings window, the choose your iPad or other Mac from the menu.
• If using macOS Monterey, click the Add Display button the lower-left corner of the Displays settings window, then choose your iPad or other Mac from the menu.
• Make sure that each device meets the Universal Control system requirements and is using the latest software updates for Mac and software updates for iPad.
• Make sure that your devices are near each other—ideally within 1 meter (3 feet).
• Put your devices to sleep, then wake them up.
• Turn off Universal Control on each device, then restart each device and turn Universal Control back on.

Universal Control: Use a single keyboard and mouse between Mac and iPad

Then contact Apple to report the issue: Get Support

Cheers!
