Need help on disabling auto fast forward when touching the screen in a video.

I have been googling my heart out, and cannot find anything on this. To be more specific, i frequently watch YouTube or other things on my phone, and i am getting super tired of the video suddenly skipping back or forth because i accidentally touched ANYWHERE on the screen, even the complete other side of the screen from the progress bar of the video. I would love a way to disable this.

iPhone 12, iOS 16

Hello Gnatte,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. If you're watching videos using third party apps, you'll want to contact the app developers to see if there's any way to disable the ability to fast forward or rewind videos. They're best equipped to hear your feedback and see if this is an option that's available. Here's a helpful article on how to contact an app developer: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Contact the developer of an iOS, iPadOS, or watchOS app
1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Search for the app, then tap it. If you can't find it, tap the account button  or your photo at the top of the screen, tap Purchased, tap "Not on this [device]," then tap the app.

3. The app's product page appears. Scroll to the Ratings & Reviews section, then tap App Support. If you don't see App Support, make sure that you're signed in with the correct Apple ID.
In the App Store on iPhone, you can find the App Support button below the reviews.

Kind regards.

Gnatte,

Are you using a particular app to watch all of your content or is this happening with multiple apps? Are they third-party or built-in? Is your device completely up-to-date? This ensures you have all the latest fixes and features available for your device. Here's how to update:

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install."
