External Blu-Ray Drive No Longer Recognized By Mac OS Ventura 13.2

My external Blu-Ray drive is recognized just fine by my laptop running on Mac OS Venture 13.1.

However, my Mac Pro running Mac OS Ventura 13.2 no longer recognizes is. If this issue is not fixed by Apple as soon as possible, I will no longer be able to use any Macintosh Computers as Blu-Ray burning is an integral part of my job.

Hey Burlita,

We'll be happy to help with this. Try these steps here to help with this: If a USB device doesn’t work with Mac - Apple Support. There's also a step to see if your Mac is detecting the hardware of the device. If that doesn't work, try starting in safe mode to see if it's detected: How to use safe mode on your Mac. If it is detected in safe mode, restart the Mac normally and try again. Knowing if the issue is resolved in safe mode can help us isolate the behavior a little more.

Have a great day.

Apparently, and if your Blu-ray device is a older model Pioneer (e.g. XD07TUHD) they are aware of the unrecognized issue on Ventura 13.2 and may/may not be working with Apple for a resolution. Pioneer currently recommends that those with this device refrain from installing macOS Ventura 13.2.

The Blu-ray device vendor is ultimately responsible for issuing a firmware update that allow the device recognition by the operating system. If a forthcoming Ventura update after 13.2 fixes this issue remains to be seen, whether alone, or in concert with any fixes provided by Pioneer.
