Iphone 12 Mini Camera Won't Focus Far Away

When I try to take pictures of things that are farther away, I will tap the screen to try to get the camera to focus on the objects. Sometimes the focus will stutter and try to focus, but it always ends up not actually focusing. Very frustrating, as the image will be clear for a second or two! This also isn't an issue in my time lapse or slo mo camera lenses, but the rest (pano, portrait, photo, video) are blurry. Can anyone advise or commiserate?
