Sent emails not sending; disappearing

Emails I am sending in Mail (both via outlook account and yahoo account) are regularly but not always disappearing. The messages do not land in drafts, nor do they show up in sent mail. They are not stuck in the outbox. They are also not being received. I am definitely writing and "sending" them, but they are disappearing altogether. How can I fix this?

Since it's only happening on your iPhone, you may consider removing these accounts then adding them again as outlined here: If you can’t send email on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

"Remove your email account and set it up again

  1. On your computer, sign in to your email provider’s website. Make sure that all of your email is there or make sure that your email is saved somewhere other than on your iOS or iPadOS device.
  2. On your device, go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
  3. Tap the email account that you want to remove.
  4. Tap Delete Account.
  5. Add your account again.

If the steps in this article don't help, contact your email service provider for more information."

Hey there LA_in_LA,


To help isolate this between your accounts and device, check if you notice the same behavior when signed in with the accounts online via webmail. If this happens through webmail as well as on the iPhone, that would signal an issue with the email accounts. You'll want to reach out to the email service provider for additional troubleshooting.

Only happens on the iPhone. Never while using another means of accessing email. And it’s a new(ish) phenomenon as best I can tell. Seems to have occurred in Dec 2022 and has definitely happened since. Maybe earlier but I can no longer pinpoint and recall specific instances from earlier than that. I can attempt Apple Support but am thinking surely no issue is unique to me! No??
