How do I get into web sites when they seem to be locked

If you are unable to load web sites please refer to If Safari on Mac doesn't open a webpage or isn’t working as expected - Apple Support.
Clicking the "lock" icon in Safari's Search field just explains what that symbol means.

If that is what you are seeing it is not related to an inability to load the website.
