Lockscreen music player issue

The new lockscreen is very bad in its placement at the bottom.

Due to the new functionality and placement at the bottom, I keep fast forwarding songs by mistake when I go to swipe up.

Is there a way to 'lock' the music player so you don't mistakenly nudge the song forward?

You need to place your thumb in this area in order to swipe up. This is extremely bad design, I do wonder what the thinking was behind this change...
