Music app on iPhone shows "Invalid sample cursor" message

iOS 16.3

macOS Ventura 13.1

I'm not a subscriber to Apple Music, so all the music I have on my iPhone's Music app was bought and downloaded from iTunes or imported from compact disks and is synced to the phone from the Music app on my MacBook Pro. For a while now, when I play some tracks on the iPhone, and the playthrough gets to thirteen seconds before the end, give or take a couple of seconds, the playback skips to the start of the next track. In an attempt to force the skipped part to play, I have scrubbed forwards in affected tracks to just after the point at which the skipping happened and a message appears, advising of an "Invalid sample cursor". I have re-synced with the MacBook Pro; I've deleted all music from the phone, turned the phone off then on and re-synced; I've deleted the app, turn the phone off then on, re-downloaded the app and re-synced: none of this Made a difference. I'm curious to know what this message means, what causes the problem and, most of all, how to solve the problem. I can find nothing about this online. Could I be the first person to whom this has happened?

Hi Ludio,

We'd like to share a suggestion to help with this message you see that says "Invalid sample cursor". This does not seem like a message that is mentioned in any articles, so we would recommend reaching out to Apple Support so this can be further investigated.
