macOS unlock with Apple Watch

Hi,

I've updated my Apple Watch Series 6 to 9.3 and my MacBook Pro 16" m1max to 13.2 yesterday.

Since this update, I do not get the notification on my watch when a authentication request appears on my Mac.

When deactivating and activating the feature in macOS Settings, it works for a few minutes and then it will stopp working.

It hat flawlessly worked before the update...

I've restarted Apple Watch, iPhone and my Mac, but without any result.

Any ideas how I can find a solution?

Hi Caldicot,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're running into an issue unlocking your Mac with your Apple Watch. We're happy to help. To resolve issues with this feature not working as expected, start with these steps:

If you're having difficulty getting Auto Unlock to work, turn the unlock feature off and back on:
1. On your Mac, open System Settings (or System Preferences) and turn off the Apple Watch setting described in the previous section.
2. Restart your Mac.
3. Turn the Apple Watch setting back on, as described in the previous section.
If that doesn't work, install the latest macOS updates and watchOS updates. Also make sure that your Mac isn't using internet sharing or screen sharing, which are turned off by default.

See more about those steps here: Unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If there is a different issue, or those steps don't help let us know what the error you're getting says. You are posting in the English community, so if you could translate the error / alert in the screenshot you shared, that can help point us toward a resolution.

Thanks.

Hi Stevi,

thanks for your help.

As I wrote, disabling and enabling the unlock feature only helps for a few minutes (<5mins).

However, I've found a solution and it seems to work now as expected.

I've logged out and back in to my iCloud account on my Mac. That was a step I would have wanted to avoid, as I've lost all my Apple Pay Cards and it's always a pain in the *** to activate them.

At least, it seems that this login procedure solved the Auto Unlock problem ;-)

Thanks
