Why do sites on Safari run up so much memory usage, compared to other browsers?

I will see the warning window across the top of various sites (esp. Facebook), saying it's using a lot of memory, and suggesting I close it, far more often, and sooner, on Safari, than others, like Firefox, Opera, Brave, etc. Why is the browser that's supposed to work the best on Macs, the one that runs up memory usage faster than the others? Seems backwards to me...

As for iCloud being the cause of the slowdown, I don't have that much saved, maybe 2 or 3 GBs, and other browsers have various items synced to their browser on my Macbook, and it doesn't slow them as much, or use as much memory as Safari. And I also wonder why when I log in, and I'm on Safari, I'm always asked if I "trust this browser"? Can it not tell, it's Apple's own browser? I guess I just expect more from all the "seamless integration" using Apple apps & devices is supposed to provide...

I've found (after many versions that immediately crashed upon opening) Opera to be a low-energy user as well.

I sure wish Safari worked better, but especially after today's Safari update, it's freezing up, running up RAM big time and fast, and giving me a **** of a hard time with my Apple ID... You'd think it would work like a dream, on an Apple computer. It seems it's not progressed to the point where unopened tabs stay unopened, thus not using up memory.... oh well, thanks for your tip, and I do use Brave as well.
