M2 iPad Pro overheats when playing  Arcade games

Hello. I’ve noticed that my new iPad Pro overheats and get its battery drained when playing  Arcade games (Asphalt 8, DeadCells, Samurai Jack and so others). It only happens whit  Arcade games, not when I’m playing or using others games/apps from the App Store. In fact, on the attached screenshots it can be observed how the battery falls dramatically during 22 minutes of Asphalt compared to 38 minutes of CoD. I’m running the latest iPadOS version but this also happened on the previous. I think it could be due to a compatibility issue with the processor because it doesn’t happen when playing Arcade games on my iPhone.

Hi just_this_guyML,

You mentioned having the latest iPadOS version installed. To confirm, is that iPadOS 16.3 that was released earlier this week?

In addition to updating iPadOS, we would also advise to make sure that the games in question are up to date. Here are instructions for updating apps:

How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support

Keeping iPadOS and your apps up to date ensures that you have the latest bug fixes installed, and this could potentially address any battery life issues you're seeing. We would also advise that games and apps that consume lots of processing and graphical resources are expected to consume more battery life and can cause the device to become warm. You can read more about the concerns you're having about the device becoming warm here:

Cheers!
