What are “required physical security keys”? The update talked about this for a new devices why did it talk about for my current old device and what is the “physical security key” they are talking about that is going to be required?

Info article says “REQUIRED.”Also what is it? Something you plug in where charge cord goes, thus have to plug in every time turn on iphone, and use before even Face ID?!
Nothing required that I can find. I'm at the Apple Store right now and so far, no one here knows anything about this.
