How do I make the screen saver appear after I lock my Mac

After I press the physical lock button on my Mac, how do I make it so that after a certain amount of time my screensaver appears?

Can I start my screensaver when I lock my computer? I have been able to lock my screen using Control+Command+Q. The thing that happens when I do is that my 2 external displays go to sleep and it takes time for them to start up. Can I start my screensaver when I lock my screen or start my screensaver using a shortcut (and set my computer to lock when the screensaver is on? I prefer using the keyboard so while hot corners might work, I'd much rather use my keyboard to lock and turn on the screensaver if it is possible.

Lock Screen and Screen Saver I have a brand new MacBook Pro 16". How long does it take to automatically go to Lock Screen. I am not talking about the screen saver. So I have set my wallpaper to be an image from my own photos. This is my desktop background. If I click the 'Lock Screen' from the drop down Apple menu this is the picture that shows up. However, after say sitting in a coffee shop and going to the loo, my MacBook goes into Lock Screen it pulls up the blasted screen saver (Ventura) after the specified time. I AM SURE the Lock Screen used to by my photo until I started messing about. Please help...am going nuts. I've googled and googled and googled. No joy.

Screensaver seems to be permanent; thus presumably harming the screen. I selected "sleep" on my iMac, unplugged the Mouse and turned off the keyboard and shortly after the screen was active; can't recall whether the screensaver msg. was there immediately or a while later. I waited for a few minutes and the screensaver msg. didn't disappear. I've checked under Sys. Prefs. and there is no option regarding timing (apart from how long before the screensaver activates) so two questions: Is the "screensaver" an obsolete term which really means screen degrader and if used does it ever turn off and/or is there some setting to arrange that?

Look at both 'Screen Saver' and Lock 'Screen settings' in System Settings. Also, you might want to update to 13.2 which released today (01-23-2023)
