Connecting iPad to monitor via adaptor

Hi there,

I’m having a bit of a problem connecting my iPad to a monitor. It seems there shouldn’t be a problem according to all the searches I’ve made but still…

I’m not yet, too sure I can connect the iPad given the set-up I have but here it goes:

iPad: 7th Generation, update: 16.2

Monitor: S2721QS

Adaptor: Dell 7WKC1

The Dell adaptor has a USB-C output so there’s an additional adaptor to covert the type C to lightning which goes straight into the tablet.

In the adaptor I have: power to charge (which works) and the HMDI cable from the screen.

It should be a plug and play but it doesn’t work. Not sure why since I have power to the tablet through the adaptor but the video signal isn’t going through. Thoughts?

You seem to be using the adapter incorrectly.

The Dell adapter should be connected to the display source, in this case the iPad, using the USB-C cable it has. The other USB-C port is only for output. It won't do video input at all, and won't be able to transfer whatever you plug in there to any other port on the adapter.

The iPad does not have a USB-C port,. so cannot be connected to the adapter in any way.

You will need a Lightning to HDMI adapter to go from the iPad directly to the display. Link ➜ Lightning Digital AV Adapter - Lightning to HDMI - Apple
