iPhone XR running iOS 18.1.1 won’t connect to portable monitor

My iPhone won’t connect to my portable monitor. I have an IPone Xr, running IOS 18.1.1. I have a new Lightning to Digital AV Adapter. If I put a lightning power cable in the AV adapter, the phone charges. I am trying to display my IPhone on new AOPEN 16PM1Q monitor. I tried 2 different new HDMI to HDMI cables. My laptop works fine with the monitor and both new HDMI cables. I have tried all the stepson the Apple website. No luck.

Thank you. I finally got it to work. It turns out it was a user (my) error. The IPhone was prompting me to confirm I wanted to connect to the exterior device (my monitor), and I wasn’t noticing it. There was an icon that briefly replaced the time on the upper right hand corner of my IPhone screen. I touched the icon and the monitor connected to the IPhone and mirrored the iPhone screen.

I discovered my error when I watched a video made by a young man (I think from the Uk), about connecting your IPhone or IPad to a monitor. He mentioned the step to confirm you wanted to “mirror” your iPhone/IPhone to an external display device. The written instructions on the internet don’t mention this step.
