How to fix ipad not charging?

My ipad has been acting up with chargers recently, and I need help getting it to properly charge.

i have a 20W charger from apple, it’s a usbc to usbc cord. I have tested both the brick and the power cord and they both work fine on other devices. I am worried because while this cord and other usbc to usbc cords do not work, my thicker usbc to usb cord does. I’m worried something may be wrong with the charging port, as the only charger that works with it is an older and slower model.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello seamusdawson,

Thank you for posting to the Apple Support Communities.

If your iPad is only charging with specific cables, it may help to complete a force restart of the device. It is also suggested to only use your iPad within acceptable operating temperatures. You can find more details on this subject and help with getting your iPad to charge in the following Apple Support article: If your iPad won't charge

You may also want to clean your iPad and make sure there is no dirt or debris inside the charging port. You can find suggested cleaning methods explained here: How to clean your Apple products

If you continue to notice an issue, please contact Apple Support directly for more help or to set up service for your iPad.

All the best!
