Airpods Max - Mic mute function?

AirPods max are 500$. Can it not mute microphone when away from phone or computer? Not talking about muting the music volume, but muting the microphone?

Microphone mute on airpods pro 2 I've just bought airpods pro 2s but can't seem to find an option to mute the microphone from the buds without using the iPhone. If this isn't an implemented feature, please can it be implemented? Joining conference calls would be much more convenient when access to the iPhone is restricted.

To get started, we do want to make you aware that to mute the microphone on your AirPods Max, this would require you to use the phone or computer that the AirPods are connected to.
