Hi A_big_genius,
If you haven't done so yet, restart your Mac. Although simple, this step can help correct some unexpected issues. It's also a good idea to make sure you're running the latest version of macOS Ventura, since this can help with overall performance: Update macOS on Mac. If an update is available, be sure to create a backup before installing it.
If the behavior persists, you can isolate the issue by testing it in a new administrator account. This will tell you if the issue is related to the account currently being used, or if it's possibly system-wide. If needed, this article will guide you through creating a new account: Add a user or group on Mac.
1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click Users & Groups in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)
2. Click the Add Account button below the list of users on the right (you may be asked to enter your password.)
3. Click the New Account pop-up menu, then choose Administrator.
4. Enter a full name for the new user. An account name is generated automatically. To use a different account name, enter it now—you can’t change it later.
5. Enter a password for the user, then enter it again to verify. Enter a password hint to help the user remember their password.
6. Click Create User.
Regards.
