How to erase hard drive of 2012 iMac with non functioning display?

The video card failed in my 2012 iMac 27" so I cannot view the screen. I want to dispose of it. How can I erase the hard drive without having screen visibility?

Connect the 2012 iMac to another Mac via Target Disk Mode. The iMac will appear as a hard drive on the other Mac and you can erase it before recycling.

Or you an open the iMac and remove the drive yourself. You won't have to worry about getting it back together as you're recycling it.

I did the same to a 2011 iMac. Took out the drives and stuffed in the things I had to disconnect and put the screen back on. My screen was magnetically held in place. You're I believe will have to be regaled or use double back tape so it will stay in place for transport to the recycling center or the Apple store.

I have successfully connected the 2012 iMac to a newer MacBook Pro via thunderbolt cable (Target Disk Mode) and can see the hard drive of the 2012 Mac on my MacBook pro desktop. If I erase the 2012 iMac hard drive, will that cause the data in a shared iCloud drive to also be erased? Since the screen of the 2012 iMac is dead, I cannot turn off iCloud, or internet access of the old machine before I erase its hard drive through Target Disk Mode.
