iPad Home Screen Problem

I my iPad home screen contained about 10 pages. But suddenly, without warning or error messages, only the first page is now available for viewing (and it’s full). Since then I’ve added a couple new links to the home screen that show up all by themselves on the 2nd page. Any thoughts on how all the previous pages after page 1 could have suddenly disappear like that? And on how I could possibly recover all those previous home screen pages. My iPad is 10.2” (9th Generation) with iPadOS 16.1.1. Thank you.

Thanks. When I bring up and tap on the 3 dots, as your help suggests, to try to unhide my suddenly missing home screen pages. It shows an ‘options’ link which brings up only the iPad’s Focus options page (note that I leave the Focus Do Not Disturb turned ON all the time.) Is this suppose to mean it didn’t find any hidden pages at all?? Your help suggestion seems to address hiding and unhiding one app at a time. But my dozens of icons on my home screen pages (after #1) all disappeared at once on me. I never attempted to hide any pages at any time leading up to their disappearance. BTW, most of these icons are URL links, not just links to my iPad’s native and 3rd party apps. I’m really hoping there’s a way to unhide them all at once. Your suggested ‘helps’ don’t appear to provide that. Are URL links on the home screen pages treated the same way as apps when hiding and unhiding them? Is it possible that all my pages could have been deleted all at once somehow (iPad glitch!) without actions by me (i.e. are all those pages gone for good - unrecoverable?) What else could you propose or advise, please?

Hello MurPhil,

To help us better assist you, can you let us know if you previously attempted to hide Home Screen pages? If not, were any other changes made to your device before this happened? If so, what changes were made?

The above details will help us plan how to proceed.

Please also check out this link, which may be able to help you find and manage your Home Screen pages: Organize the Home Screen and App Library on your iPhone

Find, hide, and remove pages on your Home Screen

With iOS 14 and later, you can hide pages to streamline how your Home Screen looks and add them back whenever you want. Here's how to hide a page:

iPhone showing how to hide a page on Home Screen.

1. Touch and hold an empty area on your Home Screen.
2. Tap the dots near the bottom of your screen.
3. Tap the circle under the page that you want to hide.
4. Tap Done.

To unhide a page, repeat the steps above. Then use the App Library to quickly find apps hidden on different pages.

To remove pages from your Home Screen:

1. Touch and hold an empty area on your Home Screen.
2. Tap the dots near the bottom of your screen.
3. Tap the circle under the page that you want to hide.
4. Tap the Remove button , then tap Remove.

When you remove a page from your Home Screen, the apps will still appear in the App Library.

Thanks!

Thank you for the reply MurPhil!

If these pages were not hidden, the only other option would be to restore from a backup. Did you have a backup made prior to this happening? Look here on how to restore from a backup:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

Keep in mind that restoring from a backup will restore the device to how it was when the backup was made and remove any content added after the backup was made.

Cheers!
