iPad email draft disappears if program is changed

I have noticed more than once a new feature in Mail- program on iPad 6, iOS 16.2.

If you startwriting a draft and need to check something from Safari etc., swipe to left or right, come back to Mail to notice that your draft is empty. Earlier there was no problem doing this, now this is more than common. Of course, you could click save draft, and look for that later, but that is much slower way to work. I assume this should work as described.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Hello jyrki224,

You should still see the email you started in"Drafts" even without saving when you return from another app. Are you not seeing that?

If not, save the email you are working on and then try some steps to possibly clear out a software issue:

Close the Mail app: Quit and reopen an app on iPad – Apple Support

Then restart your iPad and try a test email. Leave the Mail app and come back to see if your draft is still waiting in "Drafts."

The behavior for Mail did change with drafts from previous OS versions. We are always looking for ways to improve our products, so we encourage you to leave feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

Cheers!
