Apple Watch Auto-Pausing when using fitness app

Hello,

I have an issue with my Apple Watch pausing repeatedly after about 10-20 seconds when using the fitness app. It happens sporadically and is an issue if I am doing a workout through Fitness + or if I am doing an Open Goal workout. This has issue has been an issue since I first purchased my watch in October. It went away for a while when a new software update occurred and then has since come back. I have reset my watch and and currently have the newest OS installed.

Any ideas on how to remedy would be greatly appreciated

Make sure you have turned off Auto Pause. This can be done in the Watch or in the My Watch App on the phone in the Workouts section

Make sure the Watch is snug fit - you should get pinkie between strap and wrist but not easily your thumb.

Use the Workout app on your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Skin pigmentation and Tattoos will affect the light transmission required by the wrist detection and HRM on the back of the watch

Wearing on the other wrist or further up the arm may help but there is no other workaround for tattoos which affect all makes of sports watch
