Weather widget showing wrong city and constantly wants me to add toronto

Every time I open the weather widget it wants me to add toronto. I just want it to show me the Webster in my current location and I have tried everything on every thread on Apple discussions and nothing works.

When I wake up in the morning I am greeted with the weather in toronto. When I swipe to my widgets and tap weather it asks me to add toronto and can only see cities I actually have added after I cancel. It does this every single time.

My location services are on always, I do not use a vpn, google apps recognize where I am but going back to my iPhone 6, 7, 11, and now 14 (2 of those were setup as new phones and still had the issue) this issue persists and is extremely annoying when I just want to easily know the weather in the place that I actually am in, which is 1500 miles from toronto.

Any help would be appreciated as this seems like something that should be an easy fix but I am yet to see anyone post this same issue and acknowledge that it has been fixed by anything that has been posted in response.

also frustrating is that I can’t even post a photo to go along with this that is just a framegrab on my iPhone, how is that possible that the file is too big?

Since I am yet to see a fox for this on any off the created threads I will post what I found to be the issue.

on the weather widget itself there is a menu only accessible if you press and hold on the widget.

choose “edit widget” here you can choose your default location.

Apple, why is this menu not accessible from the normal menu of the widget? I’ve literally been to the Genius Bar 4 times and they have also not been able to fix the issue and suggested the solution of making a whole new Apple ID, which would have lost all of my purchases from the 10 year old one that I currently have.

Please simplify the menu and get rid of this useless hidden menu and make your current location the default option so that this can be an easy fix.
