handbrake is not in the App Store. but you can get it by clicking the link ("handbrake" in blue) supplied by dialabrain in his first post.
You need to use a "ripping" tool to convert the DVD video to a common, standard format.
Handbrake works well for that. That article is for transferring photos from DVD, not video.
+1 for handbrake. it's what I use. it works great and it's totally free.

yes...it did transfer just the photos...thank you! I checked the App Store and just 'Handbrake' doesn't come up. is another App recommended?
