macOS Monterey clean installation failed on a iMac 18,3

Hello Community,


after 5 years without problems, I upgraded my iMac with a new SSD, because the fusion Drive had damaged sectors. After the upgrade macOS Ventura run for 5 days fine, but than I got 15min after boot and some work suddenly "blackscreen". After every boot.

All methods of clean macOS installations failed. NVRAM resetting also did not help.

My last method was a installation (macOS Monterey) over an USB-Drive.

But with the same result - 15min before the end the installation crashes.

thank you for your reply. These "standard" solutions I try'ed 5x and more, but after all 15min before end -> crash.


Shift-Option-Command-R during startup, you might be offered the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available ... this option fails, because the "factory" Version = macOS High Sierra was not able to download.

You may also be able to reinstall macOS using one of the options below:


• On an Intel-based Mac, if you use Shift-Option-Command-R during startup, you might be offered the macOS that came with your Mac, or the closest version still available.
• On an Intel-based Mac, if you use Option-Command-R during startup, you might be offered the latest macOS that is compatible with your Mac.

Additionally, you'll want to make sure you don't have any external devices connected other than your keyboard and mouse.


Should you still be unable to reinstall macOS, you'll want to reach out to Apple Support: Contact - Official Apple Support They'll be in the best position to look into your options further.
