Target Display for 2022 Macbook Pro

Is there anyway to use my 2016 imac running monterey OS as a display monitor for my new 2022 macbook pro running ventura OS? I bought the thunderbolt 3 cable and USB-c dongle to connect and tried hitting Command+F2 and nothing happened. The only thing I been able to accomplish is linking the mouse and keyboard.

iMac 27″, macOS 12.6

No.


Only a few 2009-2014 iMac models are capable of target display mode. See this article for more info:

Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

That feature is deprecated for all but older Macs.


more "pull quotes" from that article:


The iMac used as a display must have macOS High Sierra or earlier installed.


The other Mac that you're connecting it to must have been introduced in 2019 or earlier and have macOS Catalina or earlier installed.


also ... with the release of Ventura, MacOS 10.15 Catalina is no longer a supported version of MacOS. it is fourth in line and no longer receiving Security (or any other) updates.
