Mail not sending on MacOS Ventura

I have an myname@me.com mail-address. Suddenly sending stopped working. I cannot get it working again.

I use a MBP Pro M1, with Ventura 13.0.1, mail version 16.0.

In the server list it states iCloud (offline)

Trying to send it; mail asks for my password. When I give it; it states: check account name and/or password failed...

Sending mail with my iPhone or online at iCloud.com works as usual.

Hello Mattheus van Zanten,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We see you have some questions about Mail not sending, and we'd like to help. The following think may be able to help with what you're seeing, as it goes through steps with what to do If iCloud Mail isn't working.

1) Check the system status of iCloud Mail.
2) Check that you turned on iCloud Mail:
•On your Mac, open the Mail app then choose Mail >Preferences. Click Accounts, then select your iCloud account in the sidebar. Under Account Information, make sure that the account is turned on and the status is online.
•On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud and check that Mail is turned on.
3) Make sure you that haven't exceeded your iCloud storage limit. If you exceed your iCloud storage limit, learn how to make more space available in iCloud
4) Make sure that you're using the latest version of software on your device.

The steps listed in the article can help explain the best steps, based on what you're seeing.

Regards.
