disconnect/disable iphone 14 chime to macbook when nearby

My iphone 14 does this connection chime whenever I have it close to my macbook pro. Is there any way I can disconnect this feature? It seems to do it over and over again despite not moving anywhere and when the disable/disconnect button pops up it doesn't work and then dissappears right away. Any help would be appreciated! The people that work around me are mightly annoyed by my disruptions to our quiet workspace!

Hey there hleen79,

We'd like to confirm more details to better understand what's happening, along with ruling out some possible causes:

  1. When did this first start?
  2. You mentioned a 'disable/disconnect' button shows on your iPhone when this occurs, but is anything else showing in the message, or any next steps it advises? The more details you provide us about this, the better we'll understand the issue.
  3. Is the chime sound coming from your iPhone, or your Mac?
  4. Sometimes unexpected behavior can be resolved with a restart. Check out Restart your iPhone and the section ‘Restart your Mac' here: Log out, sleep, wake, restart, or shut down your Mac
  5. If you have a compatible Mac model, the latest version is macOS 13.1. You can verify this by clicking on the Apple logo at the top left corner of the screen, then on ‘About This Mac’. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update macOS on Mac.
  6. For your iPhone model, the latest version is iOS 16.2. You can verify this within Settings > General > About. In case you needed it, this link shows how to first back up, then Update your iPhone or iPad.

Cheers!
