The older "source" iMac has a much older iOS. Will this disrupt the transfer process?

I've purchased a new iMac. I'm hoping to migrate using time machine backup from my much older iMac. The only potential problem I foresee is that the older one is running a very old iOS (Yosemite) because of legacy software running on that machine. I'm aware the legacy software won't run on Ventura, but I don't know if the ancient OS (Yosemite) will cause other issues.

iMac 21.5″, OS X 10.10

That is a pretty big leap and you will surly end up with a lot of App's and possibly stuff in an incompatible folder.

One option is to leave the App's behind and only Migrate your User, Other Files & Folders from the Time Machine backups which should work fairly well during the initial setup.

A second option is to setup the new iMac using your Apple ID and Migrate from Time Machine backup. Then painfully deal with moving your stuff from the second Account to first the Account and delete the second Account.

Another option that maybe better, is to setup the new iMac using your Apple ID and skip Migration from Time Machine. Then manually copy all of your Documents, Photos, Music, Other Files & Folders on the old Mac to an external drive and then manually copy what you want to the new iMac.
