Loud ringtone with airpods

Need some help with my ringtone. When I listen to music from Apple Music with my first gen Airpods at a reasonable volume and a call comes in, the ringtone blasts in my headset. The ringtone level on the iPhone is set to about a quarter high (so not that loud) but it seems to blast in my ear as if I turned the music volume all the way up. When the call is ended, the music resumes at the same level as it was before. The iPhone 11 Pro software is up to date but this has been going on since very beginning of me using the Airpods. Let me know if there is a known solution for this issue.

Tried to follow the steps but I do not have "Accessibility" in my options.

Hello sashamaloy,

If you can't find the Accessibility option for your AirPods, try the following steps to turn down the alert volume on your iPhone (this should affect the notification volume on your AirPods):

Go to Settings on your iPhone
Select "Sounds and Haptics" in the list
Then adjust the "Ringtone and Alert Volume"

This should work. If you continue to receive excessively loud alerts, my next suggestion would be to contact Apple Support for professional help:

That volume is set to about quarter or a fifth, however I adjusted volume in "Reduce Loud Sounds" in "Headphone Safety" from 90 to 80 dB. I hope that resolves it. Thanks for all the help!

Try these steps to adjust the volume of your AirPods Pro's notifications:

Adjust the volume of sound effects for AirPods - Apple Support

Connect your AirPods to your iPhone
Go to Settings and select them under your Apple ID
Scroll down to "Accessibility" and select it
At the bottom of this page you will find "Tone Volume"
Adjust the tone volume according to your desired noise level
