Airpods pro 2's limited functionality

When connecting my newly bought AirPods Pro 2 to iPhone 7 Plus with latest update iOS 15.7.2 the message appears "update is required" and offers to connect AirPods with limited functionality.

I've reset my phone and reconnected, and I have also tried hard resetting the air pods pro 2 and nothing works.

It will work only to listen music but even with 15.7.3, find my (iCloud) function is not working since you can not add as a device which is essential. Also you can not add with macbook air m2 ventura 13.2. Hope they will do something about it.

I have the same issue, i have an iphone 7 32GB and apparently am using my airpods pro 2 with limited functionalities.

This is mainly due to the fact that my iphone 7, and your 7 plus as well are not running IOS 16. These airpods pro 2 need to have the latest firmware to function properly, and only a device with IOS 16 can make them update to the latest firmware.

I think this should help!

Hey narctic,

After connecting, make sure the AirPods firmware is up-to-date. After locating the firmware version using the steps below, use the information in the article to confirm the AirPods are up-to-date: About firmware updates for AirPods.

1. Go to Settings
2. Tap Bluetooth
3. Tap the Info button  next to the name of your AirPods
4. Scroll down to the About section to find the firmware version.

If the firmware isn't up-to-date, contact Apple Support for assistance: Get Support.

Take care.
